Burke High School Reviews

There are many pros & cons that make the school how it is. I think they should have modular scheduling & not closed campus to make us feel like we're in a prison. They tried to fix the luch scheduleto make a better improvment, but and I eat luch in the middle of my classes. I also seems the administration cares nothing about the students. They treat us very rudely, even the students who get very involved, by yelling at us with megaphones & forcing us to get out by 3:00 everyday. What student is going to want to get involved if they get pushed out out of? I do feel it's diverse, clicky but it can be a good experience. The Drama & Music is a great part about Burke. Everyone is close and we have a blast. The school should know more about it.

Burke is a great school! I attended the school years ago and now my children go there. The teachers and principal really care. Thanks for all you do!

I finished at Burke in 2000. It was the third school I had attended. Yes, it's cliquey and the lunch scheduling needs to be improved but, all in all, it was a great experience. Go Bull Dogs!

I went to school in colorado last year, and now I attend Burke High School in Omaha. Compared to my school last year, Burke is terrible. They smother students with rules. That may explain the low graduation rate. Every morning I walk in, there is a lady with a megaphone yelling, 'get to class! Lets go! Lets go!' It really gets on my nerves and is unneccessary. They have closed campus, the scheduling is a mess with the lunch room (some classes have to leave in the middle of class and go to lunch). Burke needs to give students more freedom(they call your parents every time you are late to class)It is a terrible school. High school can be an enjoyable experiance. Not at Burke however.

I attended Burke and graduated in 1999. Over the years many changes have been made, to include a new principal. Personally after talking over the years with my former teachers, classmates who are current teachers (go figure), and seeing the change in the student body's attitude towards school involvement, Burke High has come leaps and bounds compared to the 1995-1999 era when I was there. I have a very outside view since I no longer live in Omaha on top of being in the military, but I believe that once the construction is done and the school stops playing politics with boosters, alumni, and parents (that was a HUGE problem when I was there) then it will be THE premier high school to go to and people will be fighting to attend school there!

I go to Burke, and it's an awsome school! It has a great music and drama program, and good academics as well. The only downfall is that we are currently under construction and we have a population of 2134 or so.

Friendly atmosphere. Nice kids. Great choice. My student enjoyed attending Morton. Friendly teachers and staff make new children feel welcome. No complaints!
